14th November, 09, the arches of Bhongir Fort as Preethi strikes a Kuchipudi dance pose.

Kuchipudi, a South Indian dance form originates in Andhra Pradesh. It presents scenes from Hindu Epics and mythological tales through dance-dramas combining music, dance and acting.

The lyrics used in Kuchipudi are usually in Telugu,and Sanskrit verses. While Kuchipudi, like Bharata Natyam comprises pure dance, mime and histrionics, it is the use of speech as well that distinguishes its presentation as dance drama. Kuchipudi dance-dramas, each present a particular episode or a series of episodes. A solo recital, on the other hand, typically consists of such items as the 'Sabdam', 'Bhama kalapam' which is the main item, 'Padams' and 'Tarangams'.

I love the interplay of light and dark in this one. The highlight of course is the sharp contrast of the empty stool next to the the one that's been taken. That's why I call it "Lone."

It was taken on my birthday at Meat & Co's Bar, Souk Madinat Jumeirah while we sipped on Rose' Wine and waited for our table at the nearby Italian restaurant.

I've decided to publish my photographs and video clips online.

They've been sitting around for too long collecting dust in the sub folders of my hard disk and on picasa links no one ever looks at. I plan to only upload small files so that,

a) The page will load faster and

b) I hate the thought that someone would steal my pictures.

Like I've mentioned before, I shoot with a Canon 400D, either with a Canon wide angle lens (18mm-55mm) or a Sigma telephoto lens ( upto 300mm)

The video clips come from various semi proffessional and professional cameras.

Well so here goes the First Photograph...

It was taken by the Sharjah Corniche and is a typical Emarati sight. Something you'll see everytime you look up to the skies in the UAE.

That it when you're not in the Desert itself ;-p

STATUS QUO- So they Stand

A colleague's status message read thus today:

"Irony is the only thing that knocks on your door at 2 in the afternoon on an idle Wednesday."

Being the curious, eternally-bored-at-work person that I am, at 2:05 in the afternoon I decided I needed a dose of entertainment. Here's what I said and how it went:

I: "Knock Knock!"
She: "Who's there?"
I: " Irony's sister - Satire."
She: " Irony's sister who?" (she didn't get it...)
I: "The one who also knocks at TWO."
She: " huh...What the hell are you saying.?"
I: " tee hee hee, read your status message."
She: "Oh, accha, on an idle Wednesday afternoon?"
I: "uh huh, finally !"
She: "You have the funniest ways to get my complete attention! LOL"

That wrapped up, I went onto more mundane conversations like organising team picnics and such...
